Why Named Brains?

So the question is, why is this fish-based food called otak-otak? Tracing the history of the birth of this food, it turns out that the name otak-otak was taken because of its appearance and texture. Otak has a chewy and soft texture with a white color, very similar to the appearance of otak-otak food.

Ingredients

  • 170 ml water
  • 5 cloves of garlic, puree
  • 70 gr wheat flour
  • 150 gr tapioca flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 spring onions
  • Salt, pepper and stock powder to taste

Sprinkled

  • Chili Powder/ Bon Chili

How to make

  • 1. Mix water, garlic, flour, salt, pepper and stock powder, stir until well blended.
  • 2. Cook over low heat until it becomes a thick dough, remove and wait until warm.
  • 3. Add the eggs, scallions and tapioca flour, mix and knead until it becomes a solid dough.
  • 4. Grease your hands with cooking oil, take a little dough, roll it with both sharp ends.
  • 5. Boil in boiling water until it floats and is cooked, remove and drain. Let it cool.
  • 6. Fry until golden brown, remove and serve with a sprinkling of chili powder/chili sauce.
