What is the difference between Es Doger and Es Podeng?
This typical West Java ice is almost the same as Podeng Ice, but the difference is in the composition of the ice. If es podeng is given sweetened condensed milk and sprinkled with peanuts, if es doger is doused with red syrup, and you can also add coconut milk.
What is Ice Podeng?
When serving ice cream can only be enjoyed by certain circles, Indonesian people make modifications to ice cream by replacing the main ingredient of milk with coconut milk, which then produces Indonesian-style ice cream called es podeng.
Where did Es Podeng come from?
The name of this delicious food comes from the Madurese language. Podeng means to rotate. Although the name comes from Madura, some say that Es Podeng is a typical Jakarta culinary. some say, this ice cream was brought by traders from Garut to Jakarta.
Puter Ice Ingredients
- – 2 sachets of instant thick coconut milk @65ml + water = 500 ml
- – 50 ml sweetened condensed
- - 50 gr sugar (to taste)
- – 1/4 tsp salt
- - 1 tbsp Munjung cornstarch, dissolve with a little coconut milk
Complementary
- – 3 slices of white bread, cut into small cubes
- – 3 avocados
- – agar2 / jelly pink, shaved
- – roasted peanuts

- – thick sweet chocolate
How to make
- - Cook jelly (I use strawberry flavor) according to package directions. Freeze, shave and set aside
- In a saucepan, mix and stir all the ingredients for the ice puter, cook until the coconut milk boils. Remove and cool.
- – Once cool, pour into ice cube / plastic molds. Freeze.
- - Once frozen, remove the ice, then blend until smooth. Pour into the container. Freeze overnight
