Ingredients
- 250 gr butter (me: 200 gr margarine, 50 gr butter)
- 100 grams of powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/2 tsp salt (if you use margarine, you don't need to use salt)
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp grated lemon zest (optional)
- 375 gr wheat flour
- 25 gr cornstarch
- 25 g milk powder
Royal Icing Ingredients
- 250 grams of powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Sufficient food coloring
- Enough water
Step
- 1. Beat margarine & butter, powdered sugar, salt with a mixer until soft and pale.
- 2. Enter the egg yolks one by one, beat on low speed. Add vanilla and grated lemon zest, mix well.
- 3. Mix and sieve the flour, cornstarch, milk powder, add gradually to the butter mixture, mix well with a spatula until it can be scavenged.
- 4. Round the dough and wrap it with plastic wrap, keep it in the freezer for 10 minutes.
- 5. Put the dough on a plastic sheet, then cover the surface again with plastic. Roll out 0.5 cm thick then print with a cookie cutter. Arrange in the pan.
- 6. Bake at 150°C for about 15-20 minutes/adjust according to your own oven.
- 7. Royal Icing: mixer egg whites until foamy, add lemon juice, mix again. Then add the powdered sugar and mix again on low speed so the sugar doesn't float. Mix until white is clean, smooth, and very thick.
- 6. Divide the dough into a bowl according to the number of colors needed, give each color, mix well. For the base of the icing (pink/red) you need a slightly runny icing to make it easy to spread.
- 7. Put the icing into a plastic triangle and then pour / draw on the surface of the cake according to taste.
- 8. The original recipe, wait until the icing dries, but because I can't wait and I'm afraid the cake will be sluggish so I put it in the oven again at 100°C for 15 minutes with only high heat until the icing dries/hard, remove.
- Wait for the cake to come to room temperature and then place it in an airtight container. Fancy Royal Icing Cookies are ready to be enjoyed 😊
