What Is My Cake Made Of?

There are two main components in making my cake, the skin and the filling. The skin is mostly made from glutinous rice flour and sweet potatoes, while the filling is made from cooked ingredients such as green beans or peanuts and sugar.

How Long to Steam My Cake?

Steam for 15-20 minutes. every 3 minutes open the lid of the steamer so the cake doesn't swell or break. for the first 3 minutes, brush the surface of the cake with oil so that it shines beautifully.

Ingredients

  • 250 gr glutinous rice flour
  • 180 gr potatoes, steamed & mashed
  • 25 gr sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil/vegetable oil
  • A pinch of vanilla powder
  • Liquid – /+ 200 ml coconut milk (don't pour it all at once)

Method

  • 1. Heat coconut milk until warm (not boiling), add sugar & salt, stir until dissolved, set aside.
  • 2. Mix all ingredients, knead until smooth
  • 3. Sprinkle the mold with glutinous rice flour, take the dough & fill with green beans (adjust to the size of the mold), round it up & print.
  • 4. Place it on a banana leaf that has been smeared with olive oil/vegetable oil (I use COOKING PAPER).
  • Do it until the dough runs out.
  • 5. Steam over medium heat in a preheated steamer for 15 minutes, opening the lid every now and then so the cake doesn't overflow.
  • 6. Once cooked, brush with olive oil so it doesn't dry out and stays soft.
  • When it's cold, immediately wrap the cake in a plastic unit

Green Bean Filling Ingredients

  • – 200 gr peeled green beans (soaked for 1 hour, steamed for 30 minutes, add pandan leaves)
  • – 200 cc of thin coconut milk
  • – 120 grams of sugar
  • – 1/2 tsp salt
  • – Vanilla powder
  • – 2 pandan leaves

How to Make Stuffing

  • 1. Blend the green beans that have been steamed, (just a moment, don't be too smooth)
  • 2. Combine all ingredients, then cook on low heat.
  • 3. Cook until smooth & can be scavenged
