5 pcs Clementines / medium size sweet oranges, peeled
180 gr wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
90 gr unsalted butter, room temperature
120 g sugar
100 ml liquid milk
5 eggs
1/2 tsp lemon juice
Extra sugar for sprinkling
How to make
1. Preheat oven to 160°C. Line a round baking pan (22cm) with parchment paper.
2. Slice crosswise (horizontally) each orange into 4 parts.
3. Sprinkle a little sugar on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper earlier. Arrange the orange slices neatly and tightly on the baking sheet.
4. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
5. In another bowl, mix butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the liquid milk, then add the eggs one by one while still mixing until a thick, trailing dough forms. Finally, add the lemon juice. Stir well.
6. Sift flour mixture into egg mixture. Stir with a spatula until well blended and homogeneous.
7. Pour the batter into the pan. Smooth the surface. Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes / until the center of the cake is perfectly cooked (do a toothpick test). Adjust to each oven. Turn off the oven.
8. Let the cake cool in the pan at room temperature.
9. Prepare the cake plate. Then carefully turn the pan over on a plate. Remove the baking sheet and parchment paper. Cake is ready to be cut and served.
